Step 2 — Referral Agreement If we agree to accept the referral or co-counsel engagement, we prepare a written referral agreement that clearly outlines the fee arrangement, each party’s role in the representation, and how fees will be divided. All agreements comply with the Louisiana Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 1.5(e) and the applicable rules of the referring attorney’s jurisdiction.

Step 3 — Client Notification The client is fully informed of the referral arrangement and consents to the fee-sharing agreement in writing before we begin representation. We handle this process carefully and professionally.

Step 4 — Active Representation Once retained, we get to work immediately. We investigate, preserve evidence, engage experts, negotiate with insurers, and — if necessary — take the case to trial. You are kept informed at every stage.

Step 5 — Resolution and Fee Sharing When the case is resolved — whether by settlement or verdict — fees are distributed in accordance with the written referral agreement. We have shared millions of dollars in attorney fees with referring counsel and take this obligation seriously.

Fee Arrangements

Pichon Law Firm handles referral fee arrangements in full compliance with the applicable rules of professional conduct. We offer flexible arrangements including:

• Standard referral fee — a percentage of the total attorney fee paid to the referring attorney for the referral of a client
• Co-counsel fee split — a negotiated division of the total attorney fee based on the work performed by each firm
• Trial counsel engagement — a separate fee arrangement for cases where Mr. Pichon is retained specifically to serve as trial counsel

All fee arrangements are reduced to writing, disclosed to the client, and agreed upon before representation begins. We work out a fee-sharing agreement in every case that is completely satisfactory to the referring or associating attorney.
